The Journey Begins

Hello People of the Internet,

Sorry that it has been awhile since my last post, but I have been very busy.  If you are wondering why I have been so busy it is because Monday was my check-in day!  So in this post I will be telling you about everything I did on Monday at check-in, and a couple other things such as where I will be living for the next 5 to 8 months.

So to begin,  on Monday I arrived at Vista Way to begin the long day of check-in.  For those of you who do not know, Vista Way is one of the four housing complexes that are provided to the participants of the Disney College Program.  Once I was in the complex I got in line with the rest of the Disney College Program participants (CP's) and things started to move.

The first stop for the CP's was the work location station.  When I got to the station I was told I will be working Quick Service Food and Beverage at the Electric Umbrella in Epcot!  I am very excited to be working within one of the parks.  After, work location I moved onto housing.  I am living in The Commons housing complex, in a 4 bedroom apartment and 8 people.  It sounds like a lot of people for one apartment, but it is a really big apartment, the pictures below do not do it justice.

After figuring out where I was going to be living I moved on to getting my housing ID and getting all the information on the details of the Disney Look.  If you do not know what the Disney Look is, it is the guidelines on appearance that all of Disney's cast members have to follow.  Once I passed the Disney Look I moved onto Casting.

On the bus to Casting there were trivia questions, fun facts, and Disney jokes.  I even won a prize for answering one of the trivia questions correctly.  My prize was the Professional Internships Mickey pen in the picture above with my Program Guide.  Once we arrived at Casting we got to see the Alice in Wonderland doorknobs and the gold Disney characters of the atrium.  It was incredible inside that building.  At Casting we went through background checks and basic procedures before we could start working.  This marks the end of day 1.

*The panoramic picture above has a funny story: I was in Casting with everyone else taking pictures and one of the Cast Members running check-in, pulled me to the center of the room and told me it was the best stop to take a picture, and so I took a picture of all of us at Casting.*

The second day I was here was another day full of information.  We had our housing meeting, which told us what not to do and told us about some upcoming events.

That's about it for now, but please leave comments and questions below.  I will be more than happy to answer any questions about the process and the program.

I'll see you all real soon!

The Journey Awaits

Hello People of the Internet,

I am starting this blog in order to keep in touch with family, friends, and any one who may be interested in taking part in my Disney College Program.

As many of you may know this spring I, Joshua Matz, have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to take part in the Disney College Program.  For those of you who do not know what the Disney College Program is, it is basically an official internship with The Walt Disney Company working within either the Disneyland or Walt Disney World Resort as a cast member.  As some of you already know, I was accepted into the program with a position in Quick Service Food and Beverage at The Walt Disney World Resort, meaning I will work in one of the fast paced restaurants within the resort.  As of now I do not know where i will be working, but I will find out shortly after I arrive in Florida and check-in.

Please keep in touch for updates, stories, and pictures of my adventure!  I will also give tips and tricks for anyone who might be interested in taking part in the Disney College Program.

Please feel free to comment.

I'll see you all real soon!
